PAGANS aka MENKLE SKELENTONS

The Pagans (full name - Pagan Celtic Urbans) was what Kips and his mates did with Priapus equipment during the School holidays. First recording session was summer '85. Early stuff was pretty raw - experimental goth/punk/metal noise with hippy moments. Extreme fuzz and FX, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, scissors, clarinet, sax, bagpipes... anything they could get their hands on! (yes, they had done mushrooms by this time). Got a regular drummer, changed their name to the Menkle Skelentons, forged a more unified style (quirky indie with a few thrashers thrown in) and became more gig orientated when Priapus split up in 1988. Eventually became Laffmad in 1990.

Releases: "It's all Anarchy, Innit?" - Originally released in 1985 as a C90, but reworked into a C60 in 1989, featuring Jumble Sale Jive, A New Dimension of Smarties n' Cocoa, Miss World Chainsaw Massacre, Never Nutmeg, Dead Dog etc.
"Me Chips are Cold!" - C60 released Easter 1986 featuring Remove the Gravestone, Frozen Antelope Cubes, The People Factory etc.
"Hasheeshin Machine" - originally released in June 1986 as "Death in June" (a split C90 with Woman in a Fish Hat), reworked into a C60 in 1989, featuring classics such as Cairo Chicken, Funky Turkey, Bazil Brush, Dogshit Blues, Dandruff etc.
"Headcleaner" - C60 released in Feb 1987, considered by some to be their seminal work, includes such songs as Looks more like a Squirrel, The Man with 32 Teeth and Fuck like a Yorkshireman.
"Large Pig " - C60 released in Summer 1987 including The Dog with a Bra, Galactic Zoo, Moomin Utter Madness & Fucked up by Beer.
"Cloud IX " - C60 released in 1988 featuring Gibbering Idiot, Woodlouse Rock, Mild Thing, VX etc.
"The Least Terrible of the Menkle Skelentons I & II" - C90 and C60 respectively released containing some of the choicest moments from their career.
Also available - "Pagans Live" - recordings of their first anarchic gig at Scammonden and a later gig at the Brockholes Pickled Onion Festival. (Cheers, Frog!). (?? - Ed).
